My partner and I had a nice late summer walk from Castle Eden up to an old barn near Wingate, County Durham.
Some interesting textures captured.
The Speckled Wood is a common butterfly and familiar to many observers, especially in woodland where, as its name suggests, it is most often found.
Common Blue Damselfly - These lovely insects are so hard to capture. They are also difficult to see to begin with as they are small compared to their dragonfly cousins.

This barn is located not too far from Hutton Henry, Wingate and Castle Eden. The structure is very derelict, which makes for some interesting photos.

Looking through the derelict barn brings up lots of interesting shapes and frames.
The various parts of the structure cast their own unique light and shadow throughout the derelict barn.
Plenty of old nails, bricks, stones, wood and the odd cobweb or two.
The windows frame various parts of the landscape ahead.

An unusual place to store a bathtub.
I love how the roof tiles create this wavy pattern. Interesting for an abstract shot.
Quite a character and very friendly.
