This Grade II listed building was designed in the early 1800s by John Dobson, the leading North East architect of the time. Now houses luxury apartments.
This Grade II listed building was built in the 19th Century.
Taken at Carlisle Park in Morpeth, Northumberland.
Created by Chantry Middle School, Morpeth. This amazing artwork located in Carlisle Park, Morpeth is dedicated to suffragette Emily Wilding Davison. She was inspired to join the women’s suffrage movement, signing up for Emmeline Pankhurst’s Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1906. Ms Davison died on June 8, 1913, four days after she threw herself in front of King George’s horse at the Epsom Derby.

The existing St. George’s building photographed here on Bridge Street has been in use since 12 April 1860. The building is in the early English style and includes a stained glass rose window.

Although there is still plenty of summer left, some of the leaves are starting to show signs of change, creating a contrast of colours and textures.
Durham Cathedral with trees in mature leaf and a watery sky due to distant showers.
Taken a Prince Bishops Shopping Centre in Durham.
Some beauitiful hanging baskets decorate parts of Durham City Centre.
Sheltering from a torrential rain storm at Alnwick.
Taken in Alnwick. The end of a torrential rainstorm is in sight.
It is just after 5pm in Alnwick and despite the sun appearing after the storm, the tea shops and cafes are closing for the day.
A Beautiful and Unique holiday property in a historic part of Alnwick.
The weather cleared and created a lovely backdrop to Alnwick Castle, lit up bt the early evening sun. This is the staff entrance to the castle.
This pretty street is located next to Alnwick Castle and runs down to the town centre.
Taken at Westgate Road in Newcastle. I added a motion blur to the image to add a bit of drama.
Lots of different textures and shapes. Hanover street winds it way down to the Quayside and exits near the Queen Elizabeth II Metro Bridge.
The bridge was developed as part of the Tyne and Wear Metro system, for which it was purpose-built. It was opened by the Queen in 1981.
Four of the seven bridges that span this part of the River Tyne. The combination of colours, shapes and structures create a dramatic image.
I used path blur in Photoshop to add a sense of movement; tricky to work with as the train is going behind parts of the bridge structure. May attempt the real thing someday.
A wide angle but tightly cropped image looking towards Newcastle Quayside.
With the High Level Bridge towering above, this view shows the Queen Elizabeth II Metro Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and in the far distance you can make out Redheugh Bridge. Some swans are making use of the strong current.
One of the most iconic bridges in the world. With The Sage, Gateshead's Millennium Bridge and the Baltic centre in the distance.
This interesting building is home to a bar. I love how the Sage Gateshead is being reflected in the windows. I wanted to create a vintage looking photo to match the style of the building.
Interesting cloud formations over Gateshead Quays
The BALTIC opened in 2002 in a converted Flour Mill and houses many exhibitions of art, sculpture and photography, etc. It has a viewing gallery and various restaurants.
This was taken from near the Baltic centre in Gateshead. The colourful red and white triangle shaped building is located in Byker and named Tom Collins House, a series of flats for sheltered housing. Other landmarks include the Sailor's Bethel, a Former seamen's nonconformist chapel. The brick building with the large window once housed the Tyne Tees Steam Shipping Company, it is now a Hotel.
These Kittiwakes are located right at the top of the Baltic Centre at Gatehead, just underneath the viewing gallery, hence they are not very sharp, I need a telephoto lens. Colonies of Kittiwakes nest from February until August and then spend the winter out at sea. Inland nesting sites can be found on the Tyne Bridge and also as here, on the Baltic Centre. Larger colonies can be found on cliffs. Kittiwakes are gentle gulls.
Taken in Newcastle, despite the improvements made to the city, there are still (as with all towns and cities) pockets of urban decay. This is located opposite the Laing Art Gallery.
In Newcastle, there are some very brutalist looking buildings. This one has elements similar to the Apollo Pasmore Pavlion in Peterlee.
Launched in February 2021 these are available for hire at various points around Newcastle. The row of scooters make an interesting photo.

This seating can be found outside the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle.
A very beautiful building with plenty of ornate features, well worth the visit not just for the art inside but for some interesting features on the outside. You can make out the netting to stop birds nesting and messing up the ornate features.
One of the outside walls looking out onto John Dobson Street is decorated with beautiful prints of some of the paintings found in the collection.
John Dobson Street goes through quite a colourful underpass on its ways down to Newcastle Civic Centre.
A very urban shot with a good combination of shapes, lines, textures and colours.
Tied cast-iron arches are the main structural elements of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The bridge was to be designed by Robert Stephenson.
The bridge was designed by Robert Stephenson. Trains go across the bridge on the upper level while road and pathways run through the lower level, ingenious design.
As with most bridges and landmarks in Newcastleand and Gateshead, graffiti is a problem along with pigeon poop.
I love the long arching shadows and the repeating pattern. The only thing that spoils the image is the pigeon poop.
Inside the High Level Bridge looking through towards the Tyne Bridge and beyond.
I wanted to go for a more cinematic look here.
A beautiful day over the beautiful river Tyne. Taken from the High Level Bridge.
A beautiful day over the beautiful river Tyne. Experimented with the shapes found in the High Level Bridge.
I love the long arching shadows and the repeating patterns. There is a sun glare but it adds to the drama (in my opinion)
A combination of repeating patterns, shapes and urban grunge makes for an interesting image.
Interesting bit of graffiti found when walking through the High Level Bridge in Newcastle.
A combination of repeating patterns and shapes all the way down. This is looking back towards Newcastle.
A good assortment of padlocks with initials of lovers, friends, etc. A lovely and beautiful idea.

A view of the majestic Tyne Bridge and both the Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead Quaysides. Amazing and iconic view taken from the High Level Bridge.
A partial view of the Tyne Bridge. It also shows how steep the river valley is below. You can also see parts of the old Newcastle town wall.
An old and ornate lamp but no longer functions to light up the steps below.
An abstract view of the Sage Gateshead. A great music venue right on the Gateshead Quayside.
Was lovely to hear the accordion while sipping a iced coffee on the Quayside with my partner on a warm August Day.
A view from the bridge of the BALTIC Centre of Contemporary Art.
